Don lemon was talking the truth and got fired for a man pushing a sentence that was used on fox news.. there is proof that cnn fired him off a lie.. It is not fair to say that black people secured their rights after the Civil War. While the Civil War did result in the abolition of slavery through the 13th Amendment, and the granting of citizenship and equal protection under the law through the 14th Amendment, the reality was that many systemic obstacles remained in place that continued to discriminate against African Americans.
